Matthew Perdie was born and raised in Port Jefferson Station, NY.

At the age of 10, Perdie began his interest in movie production when he realized that the stories in the video games he played had more impact on him than the actual gameplay. Since then he has devoted his life to his aspirations of narrative filmmaking.

At the age of 13, Perdie and his family moved to Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. At this time, Perdie's family opened up a restaurant entitled, Through The Looking Glass. After graduating from Jim Thorpe Senior High School, Perdie attended The Art Institute of Philadelphia in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. About a year after college, Perdie moved to New York City and began working as a freelance video editor.

Mission Statement
"To walk across the United States of America, while spreading awareness of the dangers of massive government spending to the American people, and show everyone who and what is really out there in the United States of America."

Once Perdie became aware of the massive spending in Washington, he had a hard time focusing on his films. At one point, Perdie had even considered making a film based on a theme that could help to bring awareness to the manipulation brought about by Washington and the media. However, based on the urgency of the situation, Perdie decided to put his film on hold and go on this walk to expedite the awareness of the dangers of massive government spending, while also pushing for the need of personal and fiscal responsibility in the United States.

On his journey Perdie will study human life and interactions so that he can better achieve the level of understanding necessary to make truly insightful narrative films. Many of these observations made will be converted to episodes that will raise questions amounst the viewers about American life and it's values. With this action, Perdie hopes that he can help to unite Americans by showing the country what is really out there instead of having Americans rely on the media for their opinions of each other. Perdie hopes to provoke Americans to inspire themselves to take positive and responsible action in their own lives.

Perdie will be equipped with a fold-up tent, and (when the opportunity presents itself) will stay with various trustworthy Americans willing to house him for a night. Perdie will also encourage Americans to travel with him, even if it is for a small portion of the journey, in order to help accelerate the awareness of the dangers of massive government spending and their assault on our freedoms.

What is the purpose of carrying an American flag the entire way?
Perdie seeks to carry the American flag to attract attention towards his platform of creating awareness of the dangers of massive government spending. It is his belief that Americans should demonstrate their perseverance of individual strength, responsibility, and independence.
Why does Perdie want to film the entire journey?
Being a filmmaker at heart, Perdie simply cannot help himself. On his adventures, Perdie plans on showing Americans "how people really are" with the intention of helping to unite this country. Episodes will be uploaded once or twice a week beginning June 22nd.
How is Perdie going to survive?
Perdie will take whatever money he has and put it towards his survival. Anything else he gets will be via donations and potential sponsorship. Perdie will sleep in a fold-up tent.
Who will be joining Perdie?
Whomever wishes to come. Perdie does plan on moving at a somewhat quick pace with at least 15-20 miles a day, so whoever joins Perdie should be able to keep up. Should a large group of people join Perdie on his journey and some of those people cannot keep up yet still desire to persist the journey, Perdie may create groups based on pace. How long will it take Perdie?
Perdie will aim to finish in about 6 months from departure. Though, this is subject to change based on path re-adjustments and weather conditions.
Where will Perdie start?
Perdie will start his journey, and meet up with people willing to begin the journey with him, at 41320 Dock Rd, Southold, NY. Perdie will begin walking at 9am from the most North-Eastern tip of Long Island.
What path will Perdie be taking?
Perdie will be first moving West for a short time, then south until he arrives at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. At that point, Perdie will begin moving west until he makes it to the South-West coast of California.

This information will be released as certain locations are confirmed after estimating weather and physical conditions day-to-day.
